Soheil Shirangi

Soheil Shirangi is a composer, pianist, researcher, and educator specializing in contemporary, classical, electroacoustic, and experimental music. He holds a Master of Music in Composition from San Francisco State University, where he also served as a Graduate Assistant in music theory and contemporary music studies. As Founder and Artistic Director of Dream House Ensemble, he has led performances, recordings, and interdisciplinary music projects internationally, with artistic activities across Germany, Greece, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Romania, Iran, and the United States. His music has been released through international labels including Naxos, Noise à Noise, Post Orientalism Music, ArpaViva Music, Zang Records, and Cold Spring Records.

Alongside his artistic career, Shirangi has over fourteen years of teaching experience in piano, composition, harmony, counterpoint, and music theory. His research focuses on microtonality, intercultural composition, and contemporary music aesthetics, with publications and presentations through Google Scholar, UCLA eScholarship, Mozarteum University Salzburg, and international contemporary music conferences. His article Beyond the Octave: The Influence of Non-Western Tuning Systems on Western Contemporary Music was presented at the VI International Symposium Mikrotöne – Small Is Beautiful hosted by Mozarteum University Salzburg and later published in Mackingerverlag (2026). His artistic and academic achievements have been recognized through numerous awards and scholarships, including the Deborah L. Larson Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Music, the Kyriakos Karababas Memorial Scholarship, Third Prize in the Orginsky International Composition Competition for Orchestra, and recognition from the MUSLAB International Electroacoustic Music Exhibition.
